This is my smallest Offroad or "Trial Truck" vehicle to date (that meets various requirements). As the name suggests, it has all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering. It also has pendular suspension consisting on a combination of two turntables and various rubber bands. With two worm gears and 1:3 after-steering gear reduction, the Mini 4x4 is driven by an RC motor. Two M motors control the steering for each pair of wheels. It is my smallest offroader that uses the four 94.8 x 44 R Balloon tires and that has after-steering gear reduction, all-wheel drive, suspension, and independently powered steering.
My first version (V1) was very bulky and had a terrible weight distribution. Therefore, even with the wheels being the first thing to touch any obstacles (versus having a front bumper hit it) and with its relatively high clearance, the improper placement of the weight causes it to fall over very easily. Version 2 (V2) was built to fix that and therefore shares the same front and back modules but with the replacement of the center block. Although the V2 is four studs longer in the center, this is a much needed improvement in terms of repositioning the weight of the batteries. Thus, it has better offroading abilities at the cost of the extra underbody space.
